Caring for Your Carpets

In my opinion, every home should have at least one carpet. Adding carpets to your home can establish the margin between a beautiful and elegant home and a home that lacks style and aesthetic appeal.
You’ll be astounded to see how well your carpets can help to beautify your home. Not to mention your visitors who only spend a few hours when they visit. Those hours will ultimately turn into days or even weeks!
While carpets can be a great asset, the frustration usually begins at cleaning time. This is not the case for everyone, though. The persons who lack basic knowledge of carpet care may experience certain difficulties.
Solely vacuuming your carpets just won’t cut it! Even after vacuuming, there will still be dirt and dust in the fibers. However, there are a few simple techniques that you can use to properly care for your carpets.
Make good use of these carpet care tips to yield excellent results from your carpet-care practices!
1.   Attend to spills immediately! If something spills on your carpet, never delay in getting the area cleaned. Keep in mind that the spill may stain the carpet permanently if left untreated. This type of stain can be very difficult to remove.
2.   Set and enforce a “shoe-off” rule. Many people are not aware of this but shoes track in a lot of dirt from outside when visitors enter your home. If enforcing such a rule is too much, you can always place a rugged door mat at all entrances to your home. This will stop tracked-in dirt from entering your home.
3.   Vacuum regularly. Vacuuming your carpets at least twice per week (depending on the traffic) will halt the accumulation of dirt. Pay close attention to high-traffic areas where more dirt is present.
If it has been a long time since your carpet has gotten a proper vacuuming, vacuum it about 3 to 5 times. The amount of accumulated dirt found will be shocking!
4.   Remove solid stains with a spoon or any other suitable round-edged object. Use the spoon to carefully scoop up the stain without damaging the fibers.
Afterward, use detergent and water to delicately clean the area. Vacuum the area back and forth with the suction function at maximum. While vacuuming, moderately add water to the stain until the area is completely cleaned.
5.   Carefully clip ends of fibers if they begin to sprout out. Don’t pull the fibers! Doing so may cause great damage to your carpet.
6.   Follow manufacturer guidelines. Manufacturers know best! Follow the guidelines provided by the manufacturer to avoid damage and to yield the best results.

Caring for your carpets is paramount. Don’t allow dirt to come in and spoil the party! You work hard for your money, so you deserve the best! Dirt can really damage your carpet, so take the correct measures to remove them and be vigilant in treating stains. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines to prevent carpet damage and to garner the best results possible!
