If your home feels empty even when you have company, maybe
it’s time to pay the doctor a visit. Just kidding! Maybe you just need
something more than just the typical human company. Why not adopt a pet dog or
cat? The kids would go into a frenzy!
If you already have pets in your home, you’ll know the
struggles of cleaning pet stains. Pets love to relieve themselves on warm,
comfortable areas such as on your carpets and rugs.
“What’s that scent?”, you may ask. Well, sadly, Spot decided
to use your beloved carpet as his “dumping ground”.
No need to change your mind about adopting a pet, though. I
have several tips on how to clean pet stains in just minutes. Before you know
it, you’ll be back to watching your favorite TV show!
How to Clean Pet Stains
Step 1: Locate
the stained area/s on the carpet. A urine detector or a black light is ideal
for this step as both devices help to find areas where your pet has urinated.
Step 2:After
finding the stained areas, use a stick of chalk to lightly mark them.
NOTE: As an
alternative, you can sniff out the areas where you think the stains may exist. The
odor will become stronger as you move closer to the stained area.
Getting Your Hands Dirty
1.
Create a 3-to-1 mixture of vinegar and water in
a small container.
2.
Apply a small quantity of the solution onto the
stained area to saturate the urine. Let the mixture soak in.
3.
Use blotting papers or a clean rag to blot the
stain. Don’t rub!
4.
Blot again with different towels and blotting
papers until no urine is absorbed in the towel. As an alternative, fold a towel
and place it on the area. Place a heavy object on the towel and leave
overnight.
To Remove Old Stains:
§
Force out the mixture (vinegar and water) with a
wet vacuum cleaner or an extractor.
§
Reduce the odor with a high-quality neutralizer.
Make certain to read the instructions provided by the manufacturer to avoid any
possible damage.
